I was talking with a friend of mine the other day, actually it was Founder's Keeper our long lost Angry Elephant blogger, about why is it that we can easily be friends with athiests and homosexuals when we are Christians and morally or religiously disagree with them, while we tend to struggle to befriend progressives. It seems strange. Why is it that I find it easier to relax around people who disagree with my most important and strongest belief than it is to be around those who disagree with me politically?

I think it comes down to faith. There are many religions that supply an answer for all of life's questions and while I would argue that Christianity is a 'proven' religion, being that the Bible aligns with history and things along those lines, faith is required. Where as politics exist in such a concrete manner that perhaps it frustrates me because I feel like fact and reality are being ignored. Politics should be a science, ergo political science, but it is not or at least it is not treated that way. There is too much corruption in politics. There are too many people trying to grab more and more money and control. I believe that if we could eliminate those people we would see that scientifically a conservative country is a more successful country and perhaps that is why I struggle.

I do want to append a note saying that I am friends with a lot of liberals and democrats, but it requires patience and respect on both sides, as any relationship that exists where fundamental disagreements exist.
